Get Real:  Real Truth for Real Life!

What is real truth?

...Your word is truth. John 17:17

Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. —Proverbs 30:5

Its found in the Word of God!  Gods Word is how He has chosen to reveal himself to us in a very real, tangible way that will transform our every day lives.

John 1:1 tells us that Jesus is the Word.  And His Word has been given so that we might know Him better and understand His ways and desires for our lives.

What does Gods Word do in us?

It renews us. It refines us. It restores us.  It refocuses our minds attention and our hearts affection.
  • His Word is living and activeHebrews 4:12 - living and active, divides soul and spirit, joint and marrow and judges the thoughts and intentions of our hearts.  Its real!
  • His Word cleanses and renews.  John 17:17
  • His Word is good and are for my good. Proverbs 16:20, 1 Peter 1:25
  • His Word guides and directs. Psalm 25:5, John 16:13
  • His Word stands firm (does not wither or fade). Isaiah 40:8
  • His Word is eternal. I Peter 1:25
  • His Word is imperishable (living and abiding). 1 Peter 1:23
  • His Word encourages and comforts. Romans 15:4
  • His Word is trustworthy and faithful. Psalm 111:7
  • His Word is teaches, rebuke, corrects and trains in righteousness so that we are thoroughly equipped for every good work! 2 Timothy 3:16-17
  • His Word changes my daily life. Psalm 86:11

So often in life we get stuck.  Stuck in our comfort zones.  Stuck in our routines. Stuck in life.  Stuck in a rough place.  Stuck in our hard places.  Hebrews 4:14-16 has a word of encouragement for us regarding this and how we can live REAL!

Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:14-16

Draw near in the original language means to approach, to come near, to worship.  Its from two words, pros meaning direction, forward, toward and erchomai meaning to come from one place to another.  Its the idea of movement and action in a forward, progressive directionforward!

Sometimes its hard to take that step forward, out of our rut and hard places.  They can become so comfortable and can give us a sense of security.  Sometimes we even prefer to remain in those hard and painful places because at least we know them...they are familiar.  But if we will trust the Lord and allow His Word to permeate our hearts and souls, He will move us forward forward to a place of joy, peace, contentment and security.  And in the process well begin to look a little more like Jesus!  Thats our goal in this life.

Im asking you to join me in a lifestyle of MOVING FORWARD, of drawing near.  Lets draw near.  Lets approach His throne. He is our helper. He is near.  If we will allow Him, He will take the power of His Word and transform our hearts and lives.  He will give us undivided affections and attentions.

Will you choose to believe, trust, take Him at His word and allow it to make you more like Christ?

Remember!  Real truth moves beyond behavior modification to heart transformation this will make a difference in your every day life.  Its this transformation that will show others what you really believe about Jesus.

Join me as we study the Word each week by looking at the Text, Truth and Transformation:
